Having a desk job can take toll on your physical health. A study claimed that 81% of UK office/desk workers spend between four to nine hours each day sitting at their desk, equating to an average of 67 sedentary days per person each year. Can you imagine what that is doing to your spine and the rest of your body.
Sitting for long periods of times can lead to poor posture, which can then lead to aches and pain in our bodies. Especially, neck, shoulder and lower back pain and even headaches/migraines.
Here are FIVE tips to help improve your physical health while doing your job at a desk:
1) Adjust your chair – The height of your chair should allow your feet rest comfortably on the floor and your knees to be level with your hips.
2) Proper posture – Try and sit with your back straight and shoulder relaxed.
3) Take regular breaks – Standing up every 20 minute for 1 or 2 minutes has been shown to improve physical health.
4) Adjust your computer monitor – Your computer should be arm’s length away from you and the top of the monitor should be at eye level. 5) GET YOURSELF A MASSAGE.
Sports Massage has many benefits to help improve your physical health.
Sports massage has been shown to improve posture, because during massage we lengthen the muscles which can lead to improved range of motion. Sports massage will also help decrease the pain and restriction you are feeling. A decrease in pain and restriction but an increase in range of motion enable posture to return to normal and can also help increase relaxation.
